Story Below:

The wife of a Charlotte Bobcats player was among six people arrested after fights broke out early Thursday outside of a bar at the NC Music Factory just north of uptown.

The fight took place around 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the parking lot of Club Label after a party that had been hosted by Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul.

Among those arrested was Jamie Patrice Thomas, 26, who is the wife of Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas.  Three other women also were arrested: Shassity Stevenson, 28; Sascha Smith, 22; and Morgan Williams, 22.

Jamie Thomas faces multiple charges, including driving while impaired and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Police say they were called to the night club after receiving multiple calls about a security car who had been struck by a vehicle, as well as a disturbance and robbery in the parking lot.

A woman told officers that her purse had been taken during an altercation, and that the suspect was in a nearby vehicle. Police said Jamie Thomas was the driver of that vehicle and that she tried to leave the scene and struck the security guard a second time.

Police said Thomas then disobeyed orders from officers to get out of the car. Officers then broke the driver side window of the car and opened the vehicle’s door, police said in a news release. Police said a second vehicle in the car, who was identified as Stevenson, began pulling Thomas back into the car.

Officers then used force to get Thomas out of the vehicle and say she was injured during the struggle. She was treated at a local hospital before being taken to police headquarters, authorities said.

Stevenson and Smith were also charged with resisting a public officer. Police said Smith refused officers orders to get out of the vehicle. Smith is the fiance of Bobcats guard Ben Gordon, according to several internet websites.

Meanwhile, officers charged Williams with common law robbery for the purse theft.

The victim told WCNC-TV that the suspects had gotten “snappy” with her over something late in the evening. The victim said that as she and her sister walked to a car, the group came up to them and the altercation began.

While on the scene, a separate fight broke out involving two other men. Michael Bernard Noel, 31, was charge with communicating threats, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer.  Vanny Phillip McNeil, 32, was charged with resisting an officer.

The Bobcats played the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday. A team spokesman declined to comment extensively on the incident at the night club.

“We are aware of the incident but it would be inappropriate for us to comment on this pending legal matter,” said Bobcats spokesman B.J. Evans.

Tyrus Thomas has been limited by a calf injury this season and has played in just eight games.

An ad for the party on Facebook shows Paul hosted the event with Kaya Jones of the Pussycat Dolls.
